1883 Liberty 'no cents' Error Nickel

Question: I am trying to find out what a 1883 Liberty 'no cents' error nickel is worth.

My Answer: I am not an expert in error coins, but I have a few suggestions that you might try to find your answer.

You can go to All Experts.com and ask your question there. This link will take you to the page of coin collecting experts available to answer questions ( All Experts - Coin Collecting ). Once you get there, read about the experts and pick the one that specializes in U.S. Nickels or error coins. You will need a good photograph of your coin to get an accurate reply.

You can also try asking your question in forums that specialize in coin collecting and get an opinion from several collectors all in one place. Again, you will need a good photograph for them to give an accurate assessment of your coin. You can do a search for coin collecting forums or bulletin boards, or you can try one of the links below.

The 1883 Liberty Nickel "No Cents" is NOT an error coin. This coin, first minted in 1883, looked just like the $5 Gold coin. Thusly, people would gold plate this nickel and pass it off as a gold coin. To avoid this, the U. S. Mint moved the "E Pluribus Unum" from below the Roman numeral V, and replaced it with the word "cents", also in 1883.
